Birth and Genealogy
Siraj-ud-daulah was born in 1732. Nawab Siraj-ud-daula was the grandson of Nawab Alivardi Khan of Bengal. Alivardi Khan had no son. He had three daughters. He married three daughters, Haji Ahmed's three sons, Nawazesh Mohammed's eldest daughter Ghaseti Begam, Maiz daughter of Syed Ahmed and Zainuddin Ahmed's younger daughter, Ameena Begum. Amena Begum had two sons and a daughter. The sons are Mirza Mohammed (Siraj-ud-daula) and Mirza Mehdi. When Alivardi Khan took over Patna, Mirza Mohammed (Siraj-ud-daula) was born in the womb of his third daughter, Ameena Begum. Because of this, he considered the birth of Siraj as a sign of good fortune and took the newborn as a foster child. Siraj was very respectful to his grandfather, as he had no son. He grew up in the affection of his grandfather. The Siraj-ud-daula has a difference of opinion on the date of birth or the year. However, what is more acceptable is that Siraj-ud-daula was born in the year 42. Mirzaffar does not fall into any of his relatives. Kazi Isa became his uncle.
When Alivardi Khan went to war against the Marathas in 5, Kishore Siraj became his companion. Alivardi appointed Siraj-ud-daula as the ruler of Patna at an early age. King Jankiram was appointed as the royal representative because he was young. But the matter could not satisfy Sirajuddaula. So he secretly took a few loyal followers and left for Murshidabad with his wife named Lutfunnesa. He went straight to Patna and ordered Janakiram to give up his rule. But without the permission of the Nawab, Janakiram refused to give up his rule. Close the gate of the fort and send the envoy with detailed information to the old Nawab. On the other hand, enraged at the behavior of Janakiram, Sirajdoula attacked the fort. In both cases, casualties also occurred when fighting started. Upon receiving the news of the incident, Alibardi Khan arrived at the scene quickly and normalized the situation. On the same day Alibardi Khan announced the affectionate duhitra beside the court inside the fort,
"After me, Siraj-ud-daulai will climb the mosque of Bengal-Bihar-Orissa.
In history, this event has been termed as the Jubilee celebration of Siraj-ud-daula. At this time Siraj-ud-daula was only seventeen years old. However, many of his relatives could not accept the fact that he was nominated to inherit the throne. Many began to oppose him. Among them were Gheesti Begum, the elder daughter of Alibardi Khan and her husband Nawazesh Mohammad. Besides, during the lifetime of Alibardi Khan, Siraj-ud-daula served as the Chief of Naval Staff of Dhaka.
